As far as upcoming activities - here's what we're doing:
OUR March 19th Meeting will be at Studio 314 downtown. Find them at Studio31four.com directions are available on their site. Please be there a bit early so we can take money and fill out any appropriate paperwork. They are graciously providing all the models and the makeup artist and their facility to us for about 2 hours of Model Shooting FUN! Time to learn more about shooting models and lighting. Schiller's will be there with lighting setups and it should be a really great time and a great opportunity to get to know the folks at Studio 314! Thanks so much to Steve Grappe for his support of the Photography Section. We really appreciate him doing this for us and thanks also to Dave Groen who put this together for us.
Please RSVP to me - randy@rsaphoto.com (636) 675-1258 only if you are definitely attending. We will be collecting $10.00 / photographer for Guild Members and $15.00 each for non members.
Some of this will go to pay the MUA and the rest goes to the Guild. We are inviting anyone and everyone who is interested to this event and it will be posted in many different areas. We have 4 studio setups where we will be able to shoot and folks will rotate from one to another and have an opportunity to shoot all the models if you so desire. You should bring your money (Cash preferred) to the event and ensure you RSVP to reserve your spot. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
For our April Meeting:
Theme - After the Apocalypse
Bring your photos (digital is fine - USB Flash Drive or CD) depicting Post Apocalyptic scenes. We'll have a projector available to show them on screen if you like. This was Jerry Anna's (Thank You Jerry!) idea and here is his description of this challenge:
Your mission for the April meeting of the Photography Section of
the St. Louis Artists’ Guild is to bring up to five images that could be taken
by an alien visiting Earth after all humans have disappeared leaving other
animals and plants untouched. The effects of rapid decay and weathering which
would occur on all human structures can be seen today in small microcosms of
neglect.
Some examples might be abandoned buildings, inside or out,
abandoned highways, bridges or other transportation systems, or farm machinery
left in the field to rust. In your photos, you may want to portray beauty
amongst the chaos, regret for the loss of human civilization, or possibly joy
for the conquest of nature over mankind. Use your imagination to present
interesting and thoughtful images.
During the meeting, there will be a friendly discussion about
your goals or intent in taking the photos, and suggestions for improvement if
desired. Images may be new or old, but should be new to the majority of the
membership. Images should preferably be digital with 1024 pixels on the longest
side, but prints are also acceptable.
As a reminder - The Guild has extended the deadline for Collectors Choice donations to March 16th so if you have a piece you would like to donate - please get it to Adrian by March 16th. You can contact her at: adrian@stlouisartistsguild.org
